What is Health?
All human illness is because of the separateness from the divine. ‘I am separate from the whole’ is my sickness. ‘I am separate from the divine’ is my illness. Then, what is it that is coming in the way? My own ego in all possible forms comes in the way. This ego creates that separateness. What is the way then? Meditation or Dhyana is the only way because it bridges that gap. It brings us closer to the divine.
You will be surprised to know that there is no positive definition of health. Why? Because it is already there. We can not define health positively. God means health and happiness. Therefore, we can not define God. It will continue to remain something that is beyond all our definitions. It will always remain inclusive. It includes all possible definitions and will still be beyond.
The word health has come from wholeness. We normally perceive that we are separate from the whole existence. We perceive that we are part of the whole. And this creates the gap. And this gap is responsible for the illness.
The diseases of the body are not only physical but also psychological. According to the psychologists 80% of the diseases are psychosomatic. Yoga and Meditation can help us to understand our body and mind very well so that the physical and psychological diseases can be kept at bay. We define health only negatively. And what is that definition? Absence of illness is health. But this is a negative definition. The ego is the cause of all illness. And this ego takes many forms of illnesses like greed, lust, anger, anxiety, etc. What is the way then? Just accept them totally in all their forms. The moment we accept them they start diluting or diminishing. Dhyana or Meditation helps in dissolution of all these lower forms of energies.
The ultimate happiness is the experience of consciousness. And the by-product of this experience is infinite love, bliss, and compassion. This is our ultimate Health and Happiness !!
